Many years ago in fact in 1990 my family and I were holidaying in Port Lincoln , enjoying the spoils of the pristine coastline of the West Coast . We met Bob Hutchinson from the previous owner of the Spot on store in Port Lincoln , and it was from his enthusiasm that first sparked our interest in opening a tackle store back home in Port Pirie, from there we meet another mentor in Brian Wheadon from Copper Coast Marine and Tackle between the two, They set us of on our new career path and we opened Boats n Bits back in those days. We set about with a mission statement to our customers to be Loyal to them for their support , endeavor to bring them competitive pricing , gather the best brands , and ultimately supply good old fashion customer service .
Ours has been a family business without doubt having employed both daughters and both son in-laws, both Marine Techs , even Debra’s little sister Julie served some time in the business. Some think it is hard to work with family, but I believe there is no better way to keep grounded, than working with love ones as they are usually not shy in pointing out when your attitudes need adjusting LOL

Leon and Debra also keen Touring riders owning a couple of bikes from a Cruiser to Adventure Bike and love nothing better than packing the bike and getting away for a week or weekend. One of Leon’s favorite things is to explore back roads, Debra stays home on those days because of Leon’s habit of getting lost purposefully LOL. Fishing has both of the guy’s interested and they love traveling to experience fish not normally caught in the area. Leon recently refurbished with the help of Hayden and Keegan which they called the Project Boat a 6.3m Yalta with galley and toilet to make life a little comfortable when Traveling Debra’s Bucket List is to catch a Sail Fish which she has booked herself and Leon on a Charter at Dundee Beach in June to hopefully tick that one off
